The days just are not the same around here. As we each try to find ourselves again it is quite evident that this place is not the same without Cody here. He has left such a void in our lives. We are all trying to adapt and focus on the task at hand. Nobody is having a harder time of this than Diane. There are days when she shows signs of progress only to take a step back and let the grief consume her. Luckily she has some very close people that she talks to and it really seems to help her. We both went to a grief counselor last week and will be taking the kids very soon.
I have spent the weekend working on the new Cody's Crew web site. I should have it up and running in a few weeks. Diane is having a lawyer look over the IRS foundation forms and we hope to have that resolved very soon. Those of you who have sent checks for the foundation please don't worry. We are not cashing those checks until we have everything in order and we can send you a receipt for your donation.
Megan,
Justin say's "hello" and "thank you". He is doing OK and misses his brother very much. They were very good friends, not just brothers.

I'm glad the foundation work is moving along. I'm following a little on your 24-hour race coming up next month. I wish I could be there. I'll run some miles for you here in Kentucky.
Counseling is good. We all went after my brother died and it helped a lot to know we were going through normal and expected emotions.

All of you are doing exactly what you should.... one step, one day, one second at a time. You will take steps forward only to be thrown back at times when the memories and loss strike hard on your heart. I pray that as the days pass your memories will become more and more a refuge of peace within each of you.
Going together to a grief counsellor is a wonderful idea and I am glad that you chose to do this. You will be able to voice your feelings rather than hold them inside.
Just love each other and remember God's promises.

Small steps, Mickey. Keep that faith. We are all pulling for you, Diane and the kids. Things will get better but as you know your feelings will change from second to second. That's okay. One foot in front of the other. Love to you all!
Continuous thoughts and prayers to you and the family. Please keep the faith!
C. S. Lewis in his "A Grief Observed" talked about a phenomenon he called the little death--that anything associated with the loved one can call forth memories that cause you to again experience the loss afresh. But he says, any given thing can only do this to you once--the next time you see it, it will just be a thing, not a fresh grief. Perhaps that is what is being so difficult for Diane--that there are so many memories associated with her time with Cody, and she has to work through them all one by one. As the others have said, one step at a time, not over it, but through it.
BLessings,
Marcy
Hope things get better soon. Can't wait to check out the new website. I will be sure to feature it on my site
Know one will ever forget Cody... He was role model for young and old. Be strong... Thinking of you all in WV.

I wish I could join you in Geetah's run, but job responsibilities prevent it. I'm sure there will be more runs in the future and I look forward to your website. Prayers and positive thoughts continue for your family. G2G
Just thinking of you all; Mickey, Diane, Justin, Daniela, and Cody.
