A new day...

Well Cody just finished his last chemo of this cycle. He is in great spirits. He hasn't mentioned his feeding tube once today. His bilirubin is just about the same as yesterday and there is very little change in the rest of the numbers. He will be getting IVIG (Intravenous immunoglobulin) at 3am and then he will be getting a CTscan of his head and chest around 8am or when they can fit him in. After that we are out of here! :) He then has to come into clinic on Friday.

As suspected the insurance company rejected the Cyber Knife procedure. Dr. Shad said that is the norm. We will appeal and she hopes it will be approved. Isn't it just crazy?

I asked for a little more definded goal as far as the feeding tube goes. Dr. Shad said that the goal is about 5 pounds. We will be hooking him up at night from 8pm to 8am. The hopes is that he will eat during the day and with the night suppliment he can put on some pounds. One of the double edged swords with Cody is that he is very active and gets around very well. The only problem with that is, he burns calories... Just can win right? Well I have to post now because he is demanding that I play a castle fighting game with him. I have yet to win at this game.. LOL

Nice to hear some good news. Although the whole insurance thing just makes me want to throw up in my mouth. Damn shame. Oh and go Cards.

Mickey so good to hear that Cody is in good spirits. And that he will get to go home.

Also - there was a late donation to the poker fundraiser from a teacher at Bennett that got us to 980 and Nancy couldn't stand that we were so close to 1000 so she kicked in another 20.

Also glad to hear he is in good spirits and will be heading home soon. Hopefully, to enjoy a Steeler win! (= I am glad that the tube is not bothering him. The insurance company is just unbelieveable. I have been THERE many times. Our last hospitalization, Cameron was suppose to be inpatient for another 3-4 weeks according to the doctors and his needs and the insurance would not allow it (Cigna). We appealed (through everything at them including the media) an won an extra 7 days but the whole task is just ridiculous to have to fight people when your son is sick. I hope the appeal goes through. Will keep praying for continued good spirits, weight gain, continued castle fighting games, as well as a memorable weekend with the family all together.

Prayers and blessings,
Mary

You're right he is in good spirits. He loves to play games he is good at. Glad to hear that he is doing better. Praying that the numbers go down and that the feeding tube at night will help to put some weight on him. Keep fighting the insurance company.

Happy to see lol at the end of your post. Great post except the insurance info. Why isn't there (or is there) an advocacy group to argue with the insurance companies. You don't need that on your plate. Will be praying for all good results. Debbie

There is a special place in Hell for the insurance company clowns who make decisions like that.

It's nice to read Cody is in good spirits. Hopefully the feeding tube hook up at night won't be too hard on him and his appetite comes back soon.

Hugs to all of you!

Cody is such an inspiration to us. Insurances can be such a pain! Hope they can find a loop hole.

Castle fighting sounds FUN. I'm glad to hear he's in good spirits throughout all the poking and prodding, and hope that there's a way to quickly climb over the wall the insurance company has put up.

Continued good thoughts and prayers for Cody.

Glad to hear Cody id hanging in there & tube is less of an issue. Am continuing (my whole church as well) to pray for Cody & the family for all you have to go through. Damn insurance companies, bad food & all. I know it must wear you down but at least Cody is still fighting the beast and we pray for his success and hope for a great weekend for you & the family with a huge Steelers win. You deserve it!!!
