It doesn't get any easier....

Well we are getting ready for a new chapter. The tests showed hot spots in the liver and lymph nodes surrounding the liver. MSKCC sees 100 relapse cases per year. We have been told that over the last 15 years there were only 3 children that had relapsed solely in the liver. One child's tumor was chemo resistant. The other two had 80% of their liver removed. The remaining 20% failed to regenerate. I guess that explains our NY Doctor's pessimism. Our Doctor here also said today that she thinks the new spot that showed up below the original large tumor is chemo resistant. They need to move swiftly. There are really no other viable options. Even if Cody went through more chemo or radiation they would still have to remove 80% of his liver due to the locations of the tumors. Besides the scare of the surgery and concern about the 20% regenerating itself we need the cancer to stay away during the whole regeneration time. Cody cannot be treated again until his liver is fully grown. We are meeting with the surgeon tomorrow@ 9am. He performs mostly transplants for which Cody will never be a candidate. It all seems to be upon us so fast.

Hey Mickey - we're there for/with you and will anything we can do we will. I will even go in and work for you - log in and everything...well, you may not want that if you want a job the next day ;}.

I am sure you are going to dig down deep and find the courage to 'be' here...'cause there is a little Pirate that needs that from you and you've got it all for him. If you need anything...and we can...we're there. Prayers are headed up to the big man tonight.

Mick, so sorry to hear this news. Sounds like all that can be done at this time is to leave it in God's hands. I pray that he gives the drs. the knowledge to provide the proper treatment. I also pray for strength for you and your family & definately the healing of Cody. Thinking of you all.

Mickey and Diane, while this latest news isn't what anyone wanted to hear I know one thing for sure and that is there is a lot of fight in that little guy. Cody gets his strength from the two of you and I know with your love and all of the prayers directed his way that he can overcome this and not only get to 10 but one day hit 41 and be a great dad like his own dad.
Thinking of you two and praying for the little guy!

Mickey and Diane, I know this isn't something any parent wants to hear! A big hug to the two of you! Your Cody is a fighter, that is obvious! He will fight through this, of that I am certain.

How long will it take for the liver to regenerate itself until it is fully grown?

God bless you!!! Praying for ya'll!!

This probably isn't the news you wanted to hear and I wish I could blink my eyes and make it all better but I can't. I know the right decisions will be made and you must continue to be strong and know that we're all praying for Cody and the family.
Be encouraged!

This news is disheartening. I am so angry this cancer is trying to steal another child from his family. I pray everyday that a cure is on the horizon, for every child that is suffering today and future generations. This cancer is relentless. I will continue to pray for Cody and your family. With much love.
