Cody's 'numbers' have started to level off and little by little more tubing gets removed. They will watch them closely over the next few days to make sure they stay in the right direction. We are praying for an 'out of the woods - thumbs up' by Saturday or Sunday. He spiked another fever overnight so they are starting an antibiotic. Cody also has fluid on his right lung so the Doctors have him on respiratory treatment and want him moving around as much as possible. This is very hard for Cody. His incision is about 9 inches long. Dr. Fishbein ended up taking out about 85% of Cody's liver, his lymph nodes in the surrounding area, and his gall bladder. The most we were able to do is get him to sit in our laps a couple of times and even this didn't go over so well. Physical therapy will attempt to get him standing tomorrow. We have warned them to watch out for flying fists! He made contact with the x-ray lady this morning. Cody is a bear when he doesn't feel good. The Doctors, nurses, and staff have been incredible as usual.

Glad to hear Cody's lab values are at least leveling off. Praying for better values each day !!
Fentanyl is a strong narcotic==and narcan can be an evil drug !! Sorry you had to see those reversal effects and that Cody had to experience them.
I hope Cody feels able to move a bit more tomorrow. It's so tough to move when everything hurts.
Your student nurse left a message I know we all feel. You are an amazing family !
Positive thoughts and prayers continue. G2G

Just checked the BLOG and I had to
laugh out loud when you said Cody
made contact with the X-ray lady!!
I feel so bad for him and when it comes to stitches that is awful.
We'll all keep praying that it will
heal quickly and he'll be up and
running again. Has he questioned
the pain and stitches he now has?
I'll read this latest comment over
and over again and reply later...
Pray, pray and pray, and pray some
more. We need this BIG GUY WELL...
LOVE and PRAYERS,
MOM & GRANDMA

I am glad to hear that his numbers have started to level off. Hopefully soon he will be running around terrorizing the other patients. Praying for healing and strength and patience. I know it is hard for Cody to want to move when he's in pain. But I also know that he's got the fighting spirit to help him do it.

I'm no doctor but it sounds encouraging! He's a fighter - just ask the X-ray lady.

Wow- a 9 inch incision is huge! No wonder he's uncomfortable. Praying that the liver values continue to fall into the normal range and that Cody experiences as few side effects as possible.

Sending prayers and peace,

Dottie

Lets be honest, it's that exact fighting spirit that is going to get him to beat this and I can't imagine there is a doctor or nurse there that wouldn't love to "take one for the team" to see him get through this as well.
Positive thoughts and prayers headed your way!

So happy and thankful that Cody's numbers are easing up! Continuing to pray! I have met so many people since our initial discover of John's cancer, Mickey, that it is unbelievable! Great people - people who are genuine and precious! I met a woman who had neuroblastoma as a baby and that was years ago! God is still on His Throne, my friend :-)

Please give a sweet and gentle hug to that hero of mine :-)

I'm glad his numbers are coming along, and I'm sorry he has to deal with the PT and getting up and getting moving. My Dad is dealing with the same stuff right now, but at least he understands what is going on. I could not imagine dealing with it as a kid.

We've known for years that Cody was a fighter and he is, once again, proving it.

Look forward to today's report that the numbers continue to move in the right direction.

It is a beautiful, sunny day here in DC and Cody will be matching the day with some smiles as the pain and itching lessen today!!

Hugs to Cody, Pat (ACCA-NCC)

I am very happy that Cody is fighting his way through this part of the journey. My prayer is for peace and patience for not only Cody but all the staff that God has placed there to take care of him. I know it is hard for parents to watch our kids going through discomfort, but you two continue to hang tough. Love and prayers, BigSis

Hey Bro,
Maybe you should get a pillow case with the name of Cancer on it or a picture that represents it and then let Cody punch the Hell out of it. This way way he won't hit the nurses, Dr.'s or his parents. Such a tough and strong little man. Hug, kisses and prayers your way!
How do we order the Cody Crew bracelets? Let me know.
